Sleep disorders: Fears and worries occur most frequently when one is at rest – in the evening before going to bed or in the morning after one wakes up – and they can result in sleep disorders (difficulty to fall asleep or continue to sleep, waking up early). Lack of sleep then causes further fears and worries.
Tiredness: Excessive fears and worries can result in increased levels of bodily tension. The effect is tiredness and lack of energy, weariness, apathy and exhaustion.
Vegetative reaction: Depression is often accompanied by various physical symptoms (palpitation, constricting feeling in the chest, headache, spinal ache, dizziness, nausea, constipation or diarrhoea, stomach aches, trembling hands, feeling of heaviness, lack of appetite or on the contrary an urge to overeat). The intensity of the troubles may vary during the day – there are people who feel worse in the morning, others in the evening. Some people interpret these physical symptoms as a bodily ailment and seek help from respective medical specialists.
